People penalized by GPO/WEP are part of everyday life!
The Committee for Social Security Fairness is a nationwide all-volunteer group of active/retired public service employees from penalized professions, working to repeal the GPO and WEP. Our Goal is to achieve the repeal of the Government Pension Offset and the Windfall Elimination Provision to restore Social Security equity for all public employees. To do this we must:
- Educate: Inform the public about the injustice of the GPO and WEP, two Social Security provisions which penalize 1/3 of all educators and 1/5 of all public employees.
- Motivate: Energize all affected, both active and retired, to speak up for justice.
- Activate: Coordinate with all professional organizations affected in efforts to repeal the GPO/WEP.
We must make our voices heard in order to convince Congress that repeal of the GPO/WEP is necessary. Many people do not know about or understand these injustices. We are counting on each of you to actively speak out!
